Late last year, an old friend told me that one could cycle from East Coast Park (near Fort Road junction) to Marina Barrage. My daughters and I decided to check it out. To our dismay, a section of the route was impassable.
The girls were foolhardy and refused to give up.
As a result, they suffered few bruises here and there.
But at the end of the route, the sight of the barrage was so rewarding.
And we had a splashing good time at the water attraction.
The following month, we joined a group of cyclists for a trip to Pengarang - the most southeastern area of peninsular Malaysia. As seen here, our bikes were ‘packed’ during the 45-minute bumboat ride.
Upon landing at the Malaysia side, we cycled 18 kilometers to this coffee shop in the main town.
After a wholesome meal, we visited this seafood wholesaler, ….
… and saw this unusual display of fire engines from past decades.
The main town is known as Sungai Rengit. Here is a picture with Victor Yew and Mr Ng (aka Ah Boon). They are the co-owners of Boon Bikes – a company that later became a key partner of BIG Rallye Leisure Ride.
After several rides, my young daughter became a competent rider. Together with my dad, we took part in OCBC Cycle Singapore 2009.
Our participation hit the headlines on 23rd Feb 2009. Read details of the story at http://singaporecarboy.blogspot.com/2009/02/ocbc-cycle-singapore-2009.html
The making of BIG Rallye Leisure Ride has just begun.
